About us

Made by hand, with Sussex at heart

Hello, I'm Sarah — the person behind every jar of Garden to Jar.

I make all of my chutneys, jams, and preserves myself, in small batches, the way they've always been made: slowly, carefully, and with proper ingredients.

There are no shortcuts here, and no factory. Just me, a stove, and a deep respect for good food.

From garden to jar

The name says it all. I source as much as I can from Sussex — from local farms and growers. The seasons dictate what I make, which means everything is made at its peak. When the aubergines are coming thick and fast, I make chutney. When the hedgerows are heavy with blackberries, I make jam. That's how it should be.

Small batch, made to last

Every batch is small enough that I can keep an eye on every pot. I stir things by hand, taste as I go, and only seal a jar when I'm happy with what's inside. The result is something you won't find on a supermarket shelf — something that genuinely tastes of where it came from.

Why it matters to me

I started GardentoJar because I wanted to preserve not just the food, but the idea that making things well — by hand, with care — is worth doing. I hope when you open a jar, you taste exactly that.

Thank you for supporting a genuinely small, handmade business. It means everything.
